Our medical oncology unit specialises in combating cancer and consists of a team of specialist doctors and nurses who combine conventional and the latest forms of treatment to help patients suffering from cancer.

We also hold weekly multidisciplinary meetings in order to ensure swift and appropriate patient care.

What do we mean by cancer treatment?

Cancer treatment either involves local surgery and/or radiotherapy, or general forms of treatment such as chemotherapy. Either way, it is important to point out that general forms of treatment include chemotherapy, hormone therapy, immunotherapy and what is known as targeted therapy. The choice of treatment actually administered on patients depends on their diagnosis, the extent of their illness and of course their age.

In spite of the complexity of the problem and our multidisciplinary meetings, it is vital that the patients themselves are involved in the decision process. 95% of all treatments provided here at the Centre are performed on an outpatient basis and are fully covered by compulsory Swiss health insurance.
